LAGOS: Olusola Ajayi and Tosin Oguntuase are two young Nigerian internet entrepreneurs who, at the weekend, emerged millionaires in the Nigerian Internet Group, NIG's Internet for Job I4J competition. The competition which kicked off in April was themed “Web solutions for national development”. The NIG president explained that the criteria of selection were innovation, creativity, entrepreneurial spirit, proof of concept, versatility, implemented solutions, sustainable concepts, business models and solutions. The winners who won with project titles EFIKO and VaccAlert respectively became instant millionaires because according to NIG, their proposals displayed creativity, innovation, entrepreneurial skills among other qualities. The one million naira grant is to kick off this year's edition of its internet for Jobs (I4J) Initiative, which it designed to explore the potential of the Internet to create jobs for the people and transform the nation into a knowledge society. The group said that the initiative if properly harnessed, would transform Nigeria to a place where business and government services are available on-line and the citizens are positively engaged in knowledge driven activities.
