CAIRO: Mohamed ElBaradei, former director of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and the co-founder of the party, “The Constitution,” soon to be officially established, said that the party will include the majority of Egyptian people in its membership, pointing out that the number of the co-founding members of the party reached 5,000 members, hoping that the number exceeds five million members. He stressed that “the party aspires to decide the fate of ‘we the people of Egypt', and the party membership will be open to everyone.” ElBaradei, said during a press conference held at the Press Syndicate, on Saturday, that the party respects religion, stressing the need to get “out of the era of darkness into the era of renaissance,” adding, “we hope our membership will accommodate the 20 million Egyptians who took to the streets during the 25 January Revolution in order to put Egypt on the right track.” Commenting on the law on political rights (political disenfranchisement), El Baradei said that the law is a part of the constitutional absurdity and travesty, and randomness, indicating the legitimacy and constitutionality of the Parliament is questionable, and the formation of the Constituent Assembly by the members of the Parliament, was challenged legally according to the Administrative Court rule to suspend its formation. ElBaradei explained that Egypt's short-term future is not clear and is based on the absurdity and misunderstanding, if not bad intentions, asserting that the Party is seeking to build a state-based democracy and social justice, adding, “we know the decision came too late, but we will win the war in the end.”
