Nigeria: Motorola wants fed gov't to tackle Grey Market challenge
Published in Bikya Masr on 16 - 04 - 2012

LAGOS: Motorola Solutions has recently appealed to the federal fovernment to put in place holistic measures that would eradicate activities of the grey market in Nigeria.
They made this appeal while speaking at the launch of a new smart two-way communication radio device.
The Director of Sales, Africa and Middle East for Motorola Solutions, Laurent ÓTribout said this problem would set serious limitations to the country's developmental plan if not quickly tackled.
He said key players in the grey market were robbing the country huge amounts of money at the expense of real manufacturers.
Explaining, he said that the new two-way radio launched by the company was a handy and tiny device that would complement the existing enlarged handheld Motorola radio device.
The Director remarked that the new radio device had not been faked since it was first launched on February 25, 2012. But the existing enlarged radio device were currently been faked in the market.
He warned that the faked devices looked like the original radio in appearance, but lacked quality and durability features. He cautioned that they also had health hazards as they might not have been produced under standard manufacturing conditions.
He insisted that customers ascertain the genuine nature of the device and demand for authorized Motorola certificate of the dealer before making purchases.
