LAGOS: It has been disclosed that Ghana's success in the knowledge economy depends on how well the country adopts and adapts to a comprehensive and integrated Information Communication Technology (ICT) led economy. This was revealed by Haruna Iddrisu, Minister of Communications during the launch of “Ghana Dot Com's Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers”, Sahara.Net and others in Accra yesterday. Ghana Dot Com limited is a descendant company of Network Computer systems established in 1998. It is developed to support companies and organizations to operate more efficiently in an increasingly competitive environment. He added that the Government had consistently pursued a policy to make ICT a driver of national development through the ICT “for Acceleration Development policy process.” The Minister has however, called on stakeholders to address this burning issue in order to boost development in the country. The Chairman of Ghana Dot Com, Professor Nii Quaynor, said the country's Internet penetration had not recovered since it fell below Africa's average. “Out of this destruction emerged a formidable Internet content, applications and software company, Ghana Dot Com,” he noted.
