CAIRO: Salafist Sheikh, Mohamed Abdul Maqsod, criticized the attitude of the supporters of Sheikh Hazem Salah Abu Ismail, the presidential hopeful candidate. In an interview with Al- Hayat TV channel on Tuesday, he said that their attitude will “create a new tyrant,” adding that Abu Ismail should not be treated as a “savior president.” “I am not against him, I just reject his followers attitude”, said Abdul Maqsod.
The preacher said he called on Abu Ismail to stop his followers from behaving in such way. “Abu Ismail himself rejected this attitude. However, nothing has changed”, he added. It should be mentioned that thousands of Abu Ismail's supporters have organized protests in many places, in a direct response to the Presidential Elections Commission announcement that it had received documents proving Abu Ismail's mother had an American passport; which could oust the prominent sheikh from the presidential race.
