CAIRO: Qatar's main stock exchange index continued its upswing on Monday, rising for the eighth consecutive session. The index gained 6.19 points or 0.07 percent to 8,849.30 points from the previous closing of 8,848.27. Volume of shares traded was up to 13,401,315 from 9,874,282 Monday and the value of shares increased to QR 313,607,399.18 from QR 322,439,039.30 on Sunday. “The market will have more gains, in the coming few sessions, and the index has transcended a very important resistance level at 8800 points,” an analyst told Bikyamasr.com. Ahmed al-Hassan, an analyst at a brokerage firm, confirmed that main index will have a lot to gain, but he warned of stock speculation in lead equities in the market, as it may take the index down. Top gainers in Monday's session were Rayan, which was up 0.54 percent to QR 27.75, Barwa rose 0.88 percent to QR 28.65. The Qatar banking and financial sector rose 0.49 points while the Qatar industrial sector was down about 6.32 points and the Services sector lost 14.52 points.
