SANA'A: Sources close to Yemen's former President Ali Abdullah Saleh told Bikyamasr.com that the veteran politician had charged his nephew, Yehia Mohamed Saleh, the Head of the Central Security Forces with the task of creating a new political party. Ever since the ascension to the presidency of President Abdu Rabbo Mansour Hadi, close advisors to Saleh said that tensions and dissensions were slowly building up between the two former allies, as Hadi was trying to break free from Saleh's influence and carve his own political future. Saleh's recent meddling in politics and his apparent willingness to appear as the real man of power behind the presidency has said to have angered Hadi. Moreover, high-ranking members of the General People's Congress still headed by Saleh, are now organizing a new alliance, lining up behind Yemen's new President as they plan to nominate him as new leader of the party. “Many members fear that Saleh will actually destroy the party if he continues to butt in the affairs of the state forcing the international community to intervene or worse ignite a new wave of violence. The GPC has managed to survive the Revolution unlike other ruling party in the region, noone wants the GPC to go down, therefore new alliances are being formed in line with the current political climate,” a member told Bikyamasr.com. In a recent outburst following harsh criticism from Prime Minister Mohamed Salem Basendwa, a member of the opposition block the JMP, President Saleh threatened to recall his loyalists from the government and make them quit their positions as ministers or deputies. If Saleh was indeed to materialize his threats, Hadi would have no choice but to dissolve the government, adding to the country's instability.
