SANA'A: A meeting on the humanitarian situation in Yemen began on Wednesday at the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) General Secretariat's headquarters in Riyadh. Several countries and organizations took part in the meeting, including the GCC's and European Union (EU) States, the USA, the United Kingdom and the United Nations (UN), in addition to a number of humanitarian organizations working in Yemen. During the meeting, a UN team will submit a report on the results of its assessment of the humanitarian situation in Yemen owing to the last year crisis. The team will present a detailed plan to tackle the humanitarian challenges faced by Yemen, including the situation of internally displaced people and African refugees. During the meeting's opening, GCC Assistant Secretary-General for Negotiations and Strategic Dialogue Abdelaziz Aluwaisheg indicated to the infrastructure in Yemen that has been damaged in the last year. Helping Yemen is “an international responsibility needs to mobilize the international efforts to assist in bringing stability back”, Aluwaisheg said. The international presence in the meeting is a new international determination to help Yemen to overcome the crisis's repercussions, he added.
