LAGOS: Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti state has declared the readiness of his administration to completely integrate Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in Ekiti state. To this effect he has launched a new official website for the state. He said the new website will enhance accountability and transparency in governance. The newly launched website is also expected to be interactive and make the government more accessible as it would provide diverse information on government activities. This new website, www.ekitistate.gov.ng, is linked to social media sites like Facebook, Slideshare, Google Plus, Twitter, Flickr and YouTube, as well as mobile applications for Android and Blackberry devices while Nokia and iPhone versions would be released within a month. Sincethe website was launched, it has become the second most visited state government's website in Nigeria. Ekiti is also said to be the first state to have Quick Reference (QR) Codes integrated into its website. Fayemi also disclosed that his administration was providing laptops for students in public secondary schools. While, the Ekiti State University (EKSU) is expected to be fully connected to the Internet in two months' time to allow students access toe-library. The site is expected to serve as an interactive platform between the people of the State and the government to get feedback and as means of engaging the younger generation.
