CAIRO: Newly appointed Egyptian national football team coach Bob Bradley finally has a victory under his belt, with the Pharaohs routing Kenya 5-0 in a friendly in the Qatar capital Doha on Monday. It was the first Egyptian football match since fan violence on February 1 left at least 75 people dead in the worst football related incident in Egypt's history following a local club match between al-Ahly and Port Said club al-Masry. A moment of silence was delivered before the match to honor those who were killed in the massacre. Bradley was without players from al-Ahly and a few key figures currently in Europe with club teams, but that did not stop the Egyptians from pouring on the offense against their East African foe. Egypt led 2-0 by the 18th minute and added three more goals in the final 21 minutes. The match on Monday will be followed by fixtures in Doha on Wednesday against Niger and Friday against the Democratic Republic of Congo. Bradley hopes the winning ways can continue for his new country, which is hoping to qualify for the World Cup for the third time in its history and first since 1990.
