Tehran (dpa) – Sixteen people were reported dead Sunday, with one missing and feared dead, after an Iranian boat sank in the Gulf during to a storm, the ISNA news agency reported Sunday. The ferry, with 20 passengers and two crew members on board, was sailing from the island of Hormuz to the southern Iranian port of Bandar Abbas when it was capsized Saturday evening by a heavy storm. Rescue teams recovered 16 bodies and rescued five passengers, including the captain. Another passenger is still missing and feared dead, local officials said. The captain of the boat was arrested upon rescue as he had ignored a ban on ferries transferring passengers during the storm.
