CAIRO: Political science professor and activist Moataz Abdel Fattah and two others announced their resignation from the National Advisory Board that was recently appointed by the military ruling council, in opposition to the ongoing violence on Qasr al-Aini street in front of the country's cabinet building on Friday that left scores injured. “I will resign, and I might be followed by others in objection to this unjustifiable violence from the military police against the peaceful protesters,” Fattah wrote on his personal Facebook page Friday. “If what is taken place is deliberate and planned, then this is a conspiracy I will not be part of, and if it is not, that means we are up against dissolved institutions which have no idea how to deal with a crisis, therefore I can't advise them no matter what I do,” Fattah added. “God be with Egypt.” Ahmed Khairi and Nevine Mossad also announced they had quit the advisory council. The ongoing violence started in the early hours of Friday morning and continues into the afternoon. The military police attacked protesters at the sit-in outside of the Egyptian cabinet building and torched their tents, chasing and beating them on side streets. Several plainclothes police and military forces were seen throwing rocks from the tops of buildings at the protesters below. Scores were injured due to the violence. Activists reported that the military is also using live ammunition as one man was hit with a bullet in his thigh. BM ShortURL: http://goo.gl/IKS6C No related posts.
