Voting delayed in Egypt due to judges late arrival
Published in Bikya Masr on 15 - 12 - 2011

Casting ballots was delayed at a large number of polling centres in several governorates due to the late arrival of judges.
In the governorate of Biheira “Aswat Masriya” correspondents reported delayed opening of a number of polling centers because of judges arriving later than scheduled.
In Menia El-Kamh, governorate of Sharkia, the judge assigned to supervise polling center at Aziz Abaza School did not arrive until now.
A source at the operations room of the Ministry of Interior said voting did not start until now as some of the judges did not reach polling centers at Al-Saff, Atfih and Kerdasa counties, governorate of Giza. This also happened at ten polling centers in Kom Hamada, Shabrakhitt and Itay Al-Baroud counties in the governorate of Biheira, as quoted by the Middle East News Agency (MENA).
He added these incidents were repeated in seven electoral headquarters at Tahta and Tema counties, in the governorate of Sohag, and at two polling centers in the governorate of Aswan. Voting was also delayed for the same reason at a number of polling centers in Kafr Saqr and Awlad Saqr, in Abu Kebir County, governorate of Sharkia.
“Bawabet Al-Ahram” reported that casting ballots in most of the polling centers in the governorate of Biheira is underway normally except for fifteen voting centres at Asaydah Safia and Al-Brigat Schools in Kom Hamada.
Voting was delayed at Al-Hadeetha Primary, Saeed Wahba and El-Koni schools in Houch Eisa, in addition to a number of polling centers at Kafr Al-Dawar and Itay Al-Baroud counties, due to the late arrival of members of the judiciary for a whole hour.
