Ellen and Portia to launch vegan pet food

LOS ANGELES: Popular talk show host and vegan Ellen DeGeneres and wife Portia de Rossi announced they would be creating a new range of pet food, which will be entirely vegan.
The daytime TV host, currently preparing for the opening of their vegan restaurant in the San Fernando Valley, said they would like to help animals also go vegan, and added it would create a healthier lifestyle for the pets as well.
“The couple also are developing a line of vegan pet foods – after discovering a void in the market for people looking to feed their dogs and cats vegan vittles,” reported the Chicago Sun-Times on the announcement.
DeGeneres and de Rossi – who legally changed her surname to DeGeneres in 2010 – have been vegans for a number of years.
Ellen, as her popular show is titled, also recently launched a vegan website to help newcomers to the diet a way forward.
The couple did not say when the new brand of pet food would be available on the market.
