CAIRO: Former American national soccer team coach Bob Bradley is in Egypt and is to meet with Egyptian Football Association (EFA) officials in the hopes of finalizing a deal sources say is “a done deal.” Bradley is looking to revive the Egyptian team, which recently was officially ousted from qualification for January's African Cup of Nations, a tournament they had previously won three times in a row. The American is seen by many as the best hope for Egypt, a nation that has struggled with discipline and finishing matches in recent years. “We are confident that Bradley will sign the deal and be officially the next coach of Egypt,” said one EFA official close to the deal. “The American knows how to create a well-disciplined squad and had taken the US to a new level of quality that we believe he will bring to Egypt.” “We selected Bradley to coach the Egyptian national team after many meetings with other foreigners recently,” said EFA chairman Samir Zaher in a press statement. Bradley looks to take over from acclaimed Egyptian coach Hassan Shehata, who despite his previous success, was unable to get Egypt to the World Cup in South Africa or advance his side beyond the group stage of continental qualification.
