CAIRO: Egypt and former United States manager Bob Bradley are apparently bumping heads over a deal that would bring the American to the North African country to take over the reigns of the country's national team. Sources close to the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) said that the former American coach is looking for a pay increase with Egypt and the Egyptians are unable to offer more. The EFA has reportedly offered Bradley $683,000 per year to take on the role, but Bradley wants more. It is expected that if Bradley joins he will be looking for a salary closer to $1 million. With the two sides unable to come to an agreement so far, the Egyptian FA has started to look at alternatives, including Francisco Maturana of Colombia and Zoran Belosevic of Yugoslavia. Bradley's agent, Ron Waxman, declined to comment on the situation. Should Bradley and the Egyptian FA be able to come to a agreement, it would represent a major opportunity for both the coach and American soccer. If the former Chivas USA and Chicago Fire boss has a successful tenure with Egypt, it could lead to more options abroad for coaches from the United States. BM
