Nigeria's telecommunications sector is to get a little more diversity as NCR Nigeria has announced its intention to enter the telecom market and the airline sector as it continues to expand its services in the country. NCR's Director Stelios Fragkos, speaking during the company's 59th annual meeting said that the company's was changing directions to “tap into” the growing telecom sector growth in Nigeria. The company, he said, “intends to grow its revenue base and bottom lines in the years ahead with income from its diversification into the telecommunication, airline and commercial sectors,” adding that it plans to deploy its information and communication technology infrastructure “in transactions in these sectors.” Another aspect NCR was looking to grow into is the Automated Teller Machines (ATM) industry through the deployment of state-of-the-art new ATMs across Nigeria in combination with the company's plans to develop into the wireless money industry.
