CAIRO: A 16-year-old Egyptian boy in Fayoum, an hour south of the capital Cairo, has lost his penis after the family of the girl he was allegedly having an affair with attacked him, local media reported. According to the report, the young boy was attacked after the family apparently found out about the affair, stabbing the young boy in the stomach and then cutting off his penis. Local prosecutors are currently looking into the incident and are expected to file charges against the family. The father of the injured boy, both from Kasr el-Geblay village, also received a cut on the hand during the incident. According to police reports from the area, the family attacked the boy and his father over an affair with their 16-year-old daughter. The incident highlights the growing conservatism that has become a mainstay in rural Egypt, where premarital sex and relationships are shunned. BM
