CAIRO: A delegation of Egyptian judicial figures will travel to the United Kingdom, Switzerland and several European Union countries to follow up on the EU's decision to freeze the assets of former Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak and eighteen other former officials and businessmen. The freeze was ordered on March 21, and the delegation is scheduled to travel in the next few days, reported state news agency MENA on Thursday. The delegation will be headed by Assistant Minister of Justice Essam el-Gohari, who is also in charge of the Illicit Gains Apparatus. El-Gohari said in a statement on Thursday that the committee, appointed by the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces and approved by the interim cabinet, will do its best to reclaim Egyptian funds. He added that the committee will investigate the former president's secret accounts under the laws of the countries in which they are held, as per the UN Convention against Corruption. BM
