Egypt's Investment Minister Sahar Nasr met in London on Friday with a number of officials from British companies to discuss investment opportunities available in the North African country. Nasr was heading a door-knock mission to the UK, which was organised by the British Egyptian Business Association (BEBA) to discuss bolstering bilateral cooperation between the two countries during a three-day visit from November 27 to 29. "British investments in Egypt recorded $47.8 billion," the Egyptian minister said, adding that there are 1,817 British companies operating in the Egyptian market. The minster also discussed the Egyptian governorate's keenness to improve its investment climate to encourage British companies invest in Egypt, notably Suez Canal axis within the upcoming period. The mission included Egyptian Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait, Minister of International Cooperation and Investment Sahar Nasr, and Transport Minister Kamel al-Wazir, besides Yehia Zaki, Chairman of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone). It aimed to promote opportunities for investment in the Egyptian education sector. Also, the mission put the health sector at the top of its priorities, and has devoted a large part of its activities to discuss the latest developments in the healthcare sector in Egypt with its opportunities and challenges, as well as addressing the insurance system.
