Published in Amwal Al Ghad on 22 - 09 - 2019

Construction works at the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), located at the El-Haram area, Giza, is now 93 percent complete, secretary-general of the Supreme Council of Antiquities of Egypt Mostafa Waziri told Mubasher on Sunday.
Almost 48,401 artifacts were transferred to the museum, Waziri highlighted, adding that nearly 35,000 of the transferred artifacts were restored.
El-Tayeb Abbas, director-general of archaeological affairs at the GEM, said 87 statues will be displayed on the Grand Staircase, including 45 statues that were already transferred, according to Middle East News Agency (MENA).
In January, Egypt's Minister of Tourism Rania El-Mashat told U.S.-based news agency CNN in an interview that the GEM was expected to be opened in 2020 and would be fully-managed by the private sector.
