Designs for Nile-style river project phase I in Egypt new capital ready in Sept.
Published in Amwal Al Ghad on 26 - 06 - 2019

Egypt will receive the architectural designs of the first phase of a Nile-style waterway project lined with greenery inside Egypt's new administrative capital within three months.
Dubbed as the Green River, the 35-kilometre-long project will be one of the distinctive and largest parks in the Middle East and the world. The project is conducted by the Housing Ministry in partnership with Dar Al-Handasah.
In January, Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli Monday gave the go-ahead to the construction of the Green River, which will link different quarters of the new administrative capital about 60 kilometres east of Cairo.
Dar Al-Handasah will deliver next September the architectural designs of the first phase of the Green River project, said Mohamed Abdel Maksoud, head of the New Administrative Capital Authority, on Wednesday.
The first starting phase will see the development of the first 10 kilometres, encompassing massive central parks, Abdel Maksoud added.
The park is expected to host more than 2 million visitors annually. It will include the latest smart communication and mobility methods in the Middle East.
It will also serve as a catalyst for the healthy life of the population, in accordance with global rates, including environmental value, green spaces, and areas for physical activities and recreation, Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli said in earlier statements.
The park is divided from east to west into three homogeneous planning sectors linked to the immediate surroundings, each reflecting a personality and a distinctive visual and urban characteristic.
The project is being implemented by seven construction companies with a total of 500 machines, along with hundreds of workers.
