Egypt's Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Ezzeldin Abu-State, has said that Egyptian agricultural exports reached 4.4 million tonnes this year, compared with 4 million tonnes at the same time last year, Egyptian media reported on Friday. Since the start of this year, Abu-State said that Egypt has exported 1.6 million tonnes of citrus fruit, 759,117 tonnes of potatoes, 284,843 tonnes of onions, 100,882 tonnes of grapes, 67,971 tonnes of pomegranates, 20,745 tonnes of mangoes, 15,423 tonnes of beans, 10,822 tonnes of strawberries, 13,962 tonnes of garlic, and 5,292 tonnes of cucumber. The minister hailed the efforts of the agricultural sector and the different departments in his ministry which have been maintaining Egypt's reputation. He also referred to the strict measures used by the ministry to guarantee the quality of agricultural exports, stressing that they meet international standards. In addition, he said that his ministry is working to open new markets for Egyptian agricultural exports, which contribute to boosting the national economy and bringing money to the country.
