Informa restates commitment to supporting Egypt growth and education
Published in Amwal Al Ghad on 06 - 04 - 2017

Informa (LSE: INF.L), the international Academic Publishing, Exhibitions, Events and Business Intelligence Group, restates its commitment to the Egyptian market and to working in long-term partnership with businesses, educational institutions and the government at an event at the British Embassy in Cairo.
The event, which took place on Thursday (March 30), was attended by over 200 people including government officials, corporate leaders and representatives from the educational sector. It included three keynote addresses covering economic developments and educational reforms delivered by John Casson, British Ambassador to Egypt; Tarek Shawki, Minister of Education in Egypt, and Informa's Group Chief Executive, Stephen A. Carter.
In conjunction with the event, Informa confirmed a new collaboration for its Academic Publishing Division, known as Taylor & Francis, with the Egyptian Knowledge Bank (EKB). Taylor & Francis publishes high quality specialist content for the academic community. It has long standing relationships with Egyptian Academic institutions, and will now provide content to the EKB through its range of journals and e-books covering chemistry, biology, earth, environmental, and food science.
These collections include over 2,300 articles by Egyptian authors, which can now be accessed as part of a nationwide licence for Egypt that makes this content available to the whole population for free at the point of access, as well as to universities and research institutes.
Informa has been active in Egypt since 2011 through a range of strategic and joint venture partnerships in exhibitions as well as in publishing. Informa Exhibitions Egypt organises significant trade-focused exhibitions that connect and facilitate business growth in specialist markets including energy, healthcare, real estate, manufacturing, and automotive.
Having launched in the country in 2011, Informa Exhibitions Egypt now organises eleven events with four key partners and is committed to continuing to bring national and international business communities together to drive growth and progress in key economic sectors in Egypt.
Speaking at the event, Stephen A. Carter recognised Egypt's wide-ranging commitment to education and economic development goals: "Egypt is in an age of opportunity, pursuing exciting and far-reaching plans that boost personal, professional and national growth through education, business, and commerce."
"Informa shares with Egypt a dedication to knowledge, to learning, to connections, and to trade, and we look forward to continuing to invest and forge new collaborations that expand our presence and support Egypt's growth ambitions."
"This long term commitment would not be possible without the support and contribution of Informa's much valued partners, His Excellency Tarek Shawki and Her Britannic Majesty's Ambassador, John Casson." added Carter.
