Detergents exports hike by 21% in five months- Egypt's Council

Egyptian exports of detergents witnessed a leap during the first five months of 2016 as they hiked by 21 percent.
The latest report released Tuesday by Egyptian Chemical Export Council (CEC) stated that the total volume of detergent exports reached around 650.2 million pounds (US$73 million) in January-May 2016 versus 536.2 million a year earlier.
It showed that ten firms seized 92 percent of the total exports volume with exports estimated at 597.2 million pounds.
Proctor and Gamble- Egypt led the list of largest exporters of detergents with exports worth 166.2 million pounds, capturing 28 percent of the total volume by the end of May 2016.
The second largest detergents exporter was Middle East Oil Refinery-Midor whose exports recorded 129.5 million pounds followed by Galaxy Surfactants-Egypt with exports worth 126.8 million pounds during the first five months of 2016.
The report stated that exports of Arma Soap & Detergents (ASD) registered 39 million pounds while Henkel Port Said Company achieved exports estimated at 25.6 million pounds in January-May 2016.
According to the report, ten states captured 76.7 percent of Egypt's total detergents exports during the first five months of 2016 with exports totaling 496.9 million pounds.
China was the largest importer of Egyptian detergents since its imports recorded 129.5 million pounds, followed by Kenya whose imports reached 84.8 million pounds, then Lebanon (56.5 million pounds), Turkey (40.1 million pounds), and Libya (40.1 million).
