UN General Assembly President Mogens Lykketoft visits Egypt

The President of the UN General Assembly Mogens Lykketoft is travelling to Egypt on Friday May 27 where he will meet the President of Egypt Abdel Fatah al-Sisi.
Lykketoft will also have the opportunity to meet both the present Secretary General of the League of Arab States Nabil El-Araby and the Secretary General Elect Mr. Aboul-Gheit.
The President of the General Assembly will also have lunch with senior Parliamentarians from Egypt and participate in a round table with Cairo Centre for Conflict Resolution and Peacekeeping in Africa.
Lykketoft will attend a dinner with the diplomatic community and UN representatives in Egypt and hold a press conference at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The President goes directly to Egypt from Turkey where he participated in the World Humanitarian Summit in Istanbul, visited a refugee camp in Gaziantep and gave the opening speech at the Midterm Review of the Istanbul Program of Action for the Least Developed Countries in Antalya.
In Antalya, the President also met with the Foreign Minister of Chad Mr. Moussa Faki Mahamat, the Vice-President of Liberia Mr. Joseph Boakai and the Vice-President of Ghana Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur.
Lykketoft will return to New York on 29 May.
The President is travelling with Chef de Cabinet Tomas Anker Christensen, Senior Adviser Ramis Sen, Senior Adviser Pierre-Christophe Chatzisavas, Special Assistant Lliam Findlay and Special Media Adviser Ulla Oestergaard. The travel of the PGA and his delegation was supported by the Government of Turkey, the Government of Egypt, UN OCHA and UN OHRLLS.
