A technical delegation from Egypt has departed for Khartoum on Sunday evening to take part in the Eastern Nile Basin Irrigation ministers' meetings to resume talks over the impact of the Ethiopian Grand Renaissance Dam project. The one-day meeting is due to be held in Khartoum on Sunday, December 8th. The Egyptian Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Mottaleb will be heading for Khartoum today noon to join the tripartite talks. This comes as the Egyptian Irrigation Minister Abdel-Mottaleb had met with his Sudanese counterpart Osama Abdullah on December 3rd ahead of the anticipated Khartoum meeting which aims at hammering out a tripartite agreement in which Renaissance Dam would not affect the water shares of the two downstream countries; Egypt and the Sudan. A similar meeting had been held on 4 November involving technical representatives from the three countries, but no tangible results were reached.
