Egypt exported around 215,000 tons of food products last week, with Saudi Arabia among the largest importers, the National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) said in its second weekly report for 2026 on Sunday.
The report, covering 10–16 January, showed that 6,340 food consignments were shipped by 1,530 companies, encompassing nearly 710 different products, including fruits, vegetables, tubers, flour, cereals, and prepared food items.
Sweet potatoes and beans led vegetable exports, with 10,000 tons each, followed by 8,000 tons of potatoes. In total, 34 types of vegetables were exported, amounting to 50,000 tons.
Citrus fruits topped fruit exports at 80,000 tons, followed by 10,000 tons of strawberries, and 3,000 tons of dates. Overall, 35 fruit varieties were exported, totaling 100,000 tons.
Egyptian food products reached 186 international markets, with Saudi Arabia, Russia, the United Arab Emirates, the Netherlands, and Sudan among the top destinations.
