Egypt unveils new oil, gas discoveries adding 47 MMcfd, 4,300 b/d

Egypt has announced new oil and gas discoveries and the start-up of several wells that together add about 47 million cubic feet of natural gas and 4,300 barrels of oil and condensates per day to national output, the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources said Friday.
The finds are part of the ministry's strategy to boost production through expanded drilling and exploration programmes across the Western Desert, Eastern Desert, and the Nile Delta.
Khalda Petroleum recorded three new oil and gas discoveries at the West Kanayes, West Kalabsha, and TUT-29 in Khalda development areas. Tests showed combined production potential of around 2,550 barrels of oil and condensates per day and about 29 million cubic feet of gas per day. The wells are expected to be tied into production shortly, while assessments of the added resources and reserves continue.
In the Nile Delta, Disouq Petroleum Company (DISOUCO), in partnership with Harbour Energy, drilled the Az-2 appraisal well, where logging results confirmed a 23-metre-thick gas-bearing sandstone layer in the Abu Madi reservoir. The earlier Az-1 discovery has already been connected to production at 10 million cubic feet of gas per day and 500 barrels of condensates per day, with preparations under way to bring Az-2 on stream.
Separately, the state-owned General Petroleum Company (GPC) has brought new wells into production in the Western and Eastern deserts, adding around 8 million cubic feet of gas and more than 1,250 barrels of oil and condensates per day. This includes the GPR-3 well at the new GPR field in the Western Desert and the Kharaza-5 well in the Eastern Desert, following seismic surveys carried out by United Energy, the operator responsible for field development and operations, the ministry added.
