Egypt exported around 222,000 tons of food products last week, covering 5,550 consignments from 1,510 companies, the National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) said in its weekly report for 29 November–5 December. The shipments included roughly 643 product varieties, ranging from vegetables and tubers to grains, flour, fruits, and prepared foods. Among vegetables, sweet potatoes led exports at 8,000 tons, followed by onions and beans at 5,000 tons each, totalling 37,000 tons across 36 varieties. Citrus fruits dominated fruit exports at 12,000 tons, followed by strawberries at about 10,000 tons and pomegranates at 4,000 tons, amounting to 36,000 tons across 27 varieties. Egyptian food products were shipped to 170 countries, with Sudan, Somalia, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, and the United Kingdom among the largest importers. Attribution: Amwal Al Ghad English
