Egypt and the United Kingdom are stepping up cooperation to strengthen food safety standards, inspection systems, and technical training, the National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) said in a statement on Wednesday. NFSA Chairman Tarek El-Houby met with a high-level British trade delegation led by Rob Lally, head of Africa and Economic and Trade Relations at the UK Department, to discuss ways to deepen the two countries' strategic partnership in food safety and trade. Talks focused on facilitating the entry of Egyptian food products into UK markets, including the registration process and the establishment of "white lists" for approved products. The two sides also explored joint training and capacity-building programs to modernise inspection systems and strengthen market oversight. El-Houby said Egypt is committed to aligning its food safety framework with international standards and to expanding cooperation with global partners to enhance product quality and protect consumers. Both sides agreed to continue coordination to develop practical mechanisms for expanding cooperation and integrating their work on shared priorities in the food and trade sectors.
