Egypt's Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) is expanding its industrial footprint with two new Chinese-backed investments in the West Qantara Industrial Zone, signalling growing investor confidence in the area's competitiveness and export potential. SCZONE Chairman Waleid Gamal El-Dein and Ismailia Deputy Governor Ahmed Essam El-Din on Monday laid the foundation stones for Hui Zhou Top New Garment Mfg. Ltd and Changzhou Top Credit International's projects — worth a combined $20.5 million — which will collectively span 68,000 square metres and generate 4,600 direct jobs. About the Projects Hui Zhou Top New Garment's project, valued at $7.2 million, will establish an integrated factory for ready-made and sportswear apparel, targeting full export capacity with production expected to begin in July 2026. The 28,000-square-metre facility will employ 4,000 workers and produce more than 25 million pieces annually. As for Changzhou Top Credit's project, it involves a $13.3 million investment. It will manufacture fabrics and textiles on a 40,000-square-metre site, with an expected annual output exceeding 28,000 tons, 80 per cent of which will be exported. The factory will provide 600 direct jobs. "These new investments underscore Qantara West's readiness to attract global manufacturers and its rising profile as a key node in regional value chains," Gamal El-Dein said. He noted that the first phase of the industrial zone's development has already drawn 44 projects with total investments of $1.17 billion, covering 2.8 million square metres and creating 60,165 jobs in less than two years. He added that Qantara West offers investors a competitive advantage through its strategic location, skilled workforce, and integration with Egypt's seaports and logistics network, positioning it as a hub for textiles, apparel, agro-industrial, and food industries. The SCZONE, he said, continues to strengthen infrastructure, logistics, and digital systems while offering streamlined licensing and tailored investment incentives — part of its broader vision to establish Egypt as a global industrial and logistics center connecting Africa, the Middle East, and Europe.
