Egypt exported around 200,000 tons of food products in the week ending 24 October, driven by strong demand for sweet potatoes, pomegranates, and frozen vegetables, the National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) said in its latest weekly report on Sunday. According to the NFSA, Egypt shipped 4,030 consignments from 1,355 exporting companies, covering 823 varieties of food products including fresh produce, grains, flour, and prepared foods. Sweet potatoes topped the list of exported vegetables at 12,000 tons, followed by mixed frozen vegetables (10,000 tons), and beans (6,000 tons), bringing total vegetable exports to 37,000 tons across 34 product types. Among fruits, pomegranates led with 16,000 tons, ahead of mangoes and strawberries, each at 6,000 tons, with total fruit exports reaching 35,000 tons across 35 categories. Egypt's food exports reached 193 international markets, with the United Kingdom, Yemen, Syria, and Sudan ranking among the top importers during the week. Attribution: Amwal Al Ghad English
