Egypt exported more than 185,000 tons of food products during the week of October 11–17, led by strong shipments of sweet potatoes, pomegranates, and frozen vegetables, according to the National Food Safety Authority's (NFSA) report on Sunday. The NFSA said 4,100 food consignments were cleared for export by 1,320 companies, covering about 815 product types, including grains, fruits, vegetables, and processed foods. Sweet potatoes topped vegetable exports at 12,000 tons, followed by mixed frozen vegetables at around 10,000 tons and beans at 9,000 tons, the report showed. Total vegetable exports reached 35,000 tons across 36 varieties. Among fruits, pomegranates led with 13,000 tons, followed by mangoes at around 8,000 tons and strawberries at 7,000 tons, bringing total fruit exports to 37,000 tons across 35 varieties. Egypt's food exports reached 190 markets worldwide last week, with Somalia, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, and Syria among the top destinations, the authority added. Attribution: Amwal Al Ghad English
