Egypt's markets remain stable and well-supplied following the latest adjustment in petroleum product prices, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Sherif Farouk said on Saturday. Farouk monitored market conditions from the ministry's Central Operations Room, which has been working around the clock for a second consecutive day in coordination with local directorates to track developments and respond to citizen reports. Field reports showed sufficient availability of basic commodities and no unjustified price increases, the minister said, adding that inspection teams have been active since the new prices took effect to ensure compliance and prevent exploitation. He stressed that monitoring extends beyond fuel stations and butane gas depots to include retail markets, warning that any trader who uses fuel price changes as a pretext for raising food or commodity prices will face swift legal action. Farouk also directed continued coordination with relevant authorities to ensure smooth fuel distribution and steady market supplies, while intensifying inspection campaigns in the coming period to safeguard market stability and protect consumers.
