Egypt's Petroleum Minister Karim Badawy met with Máximo Pacheco, Chairman of Chile's state-owned copper giant Codelco, to discuss potential cooperation in copper mining projects in Egypt's Eastern Desert, the ministry said on Tuesday. The meeting, held on the sidelines of the Energy Intelligence Forum 2025, focused on ways to expand collaboration between Egypt and the world's largest copper producer. Badawy invited Pacheco to explore investment opportunities in Egypt's mining sector, with both sides agreeing to coordinate a technical mission from Codelco to examine potential areas of partnership with the Egyptian Mineral Resources and Mining Industries Authority.
