The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) hosted a delegation from the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) this week to demonstrate its advanced operations in cash printing and currency management in the New Administrative Capital. According to a CBE statement on Tuesday, the three-day visit included nine South African banking experts, who reviewed the CBE's automation technology, workflow efficiency, risk protocols, and governance measures. Delegates also exchanged knowledge on research projects and best practices in currency operations. Khaled Farouk, CBE's sub-governor for the Banknote Printing House, said the visit highlights Egypt's leadership in central banking infrastructure. "We welcome our African counterparts and are ready to share expertise and operational insights," he said in a statement. Naglaa Nazhi, Advisor to the CBE governor for African Affairs, emphasised that such visits support Egypt's strategy to expand financial and regulatory cooperation across the continent. Deliah Sampson, head of SARB's Supply Chain Management and head of the South African delegation, called the visit an invaluable opportunity to gain insights. She said it could help deepen bilateral financial and economic cooperation. The delegation toured both the Banknote Printing House and Cash Centre, accompanied by senior CBE officials from African Cooperation, Banking Operations, and Security divisions.
