Egypt's Cabinet, headed by Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly, approved on Thursday the supply prices for key strategic crops for the 2025/2026 season. Wheat supply prices were set at 2,250, 2,300, and 2,350 Egyptian pounds per ardeb, depending on cleanliness grades of 22.5, 23, and 23.5 respectively. The government also fixed the sugarcane supply price at 2,500 Egyptian pounds per ton and sugar beet at 2,000 Egyptian pounds per ton. The decision reflects the state's efforts to respond to current economic conditions and its strategy to enhance food security while reducing reliance on imports. It also aligns with Egypt Vision 2030, aiming to expand cultivated land, increase the production of strategic crops, and establish fair policies that support farmers and ensure sustainable use of natural resources.
