Egypt's Minister of Social Solidarity Maya Morsy received Sima Bahous, United Nations under-secretary-general and executive director of UN Women, and her accompanying delegation. Talks focused on strengthening cooperation in key areas, including the care economy, the green economy and women's economic empowerment. Morsy highlighted the ministry's efforts in carrying out a nationwide census of nurseries, in line with presidential directives. She said the initiative will represent a qualitative shift by improving early childhood services, providing a safe learning environment, and supporting women's participation in the labour market. Results of the census will be announced soon at an official conference, during which a national initiative to support nurseries will also be launched. The minister also reviewed the ministry's role in promoting the green economy through Ezraa (Plant) initiative, launched in 2022 by the National Alliance for Civil Development Work and implemented by the Coptic Evangelical Organisation for Social Services, which integrates environmental, social and economic dimensions.
