Shalateen Mineral Resources Company announced that its gold output exceeded 900 kilograms in 2024 from the Iqat mine and artisanal mining operations. Chairman Hany Mostafa has said the company aims to raise production to 6 tons within five years. He added that construction of the Industrial Complex for Gold Extraction in Aswan Governorate, covering 1,422 feddans, is underway to integrate artisanal mining into a modern and environmentally friendly framework. Studies are also being carried out with Afak Mining Company to confirm more than 300,000 ounces of reserves in West Gebel Elba, paving the way for a potential new commercial discovery. WadiCo Chairman Amgad Ghoneim revealed that the company added 5.4 million tons of new phosphate reserves in 2025. He said efforts are focused on upgrading low- and medium-grade ores to double high-quality stock by up to 200 per cent, a move that will support phosphate fertiliser production partnerships. The company is also preparing to launch Egypt's first environmentally friendly phosphate crusher in Aswan, powered by solar energy, while deploying electric heavy equipment to save about one million litres of diesel annually. Amr Hassan, Chairman of the Egyptian Company for Mining Resources, said the company targets a total output of about 593,000 tons of ores, led by phosphate, quartz, and talc. He added that new mining areas at the Wadi El-Shaghb site are being developed to boost production, while tin extraction will be introduced for the first time.
