Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov reviewed Moscow's stance on the Gaza crisis, affirming Russia's support for Egypt's efforts to achieve a ceasefire and end the suffering in the Gaza Strip. He stressed the need to resolve the Palestinian issue in line with international legitimacy and the Palestinian people's right to establish their state on the June 4, 1967 borders, according to a statement by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry on Sunday. During his meeting with Egyptian Ambassador Nazih El-Naggary, whose term is coming to an end, Lavrov also reviewed the outcome of ongoing contacts between Russia and the United States aimed at resolving the Ukraine crisis. Lavrov praised the level of Egyptian-Russian relations and the ambassador's role in strengthening cooperation across political, economic, investment and other fields, despite regional and international challenges in recent years. El-Naggary, in turn, thanked Lavrov for his strong support and for the cooperation of Russian officials with the embassy under the Foreign Ministry's attention to bilateral relations.
