Egypt's General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), in cooperation with the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), organised a workshop to encourage Egyptian companies to participate in international bids and strengthen exports, the authority said Wednesday. The workshop, titled Get Ready for International Competition: How to Qualify and Win FAO Tenders, highlighted opportunities worth about $500m annually in FAO procurement across agriculture, nutrition, fisheries, printing and feed. GAFI's Deputy CEO and Chair of the National Committee on FAO Tenders Dalia El-Hawary said Egyptian firms are well-positioned to compete regionally and globally, especially in markets such as Sudan, Palestine, Libya and Yemen, where Egyptian products enjoy strong demand. She stressed ongoing government efforts to enhance private sector competitiveness through training, technical support, registration guidance, and diplomatic channels to connect Egyptian companies with UN procurement agencies.
