Egypt's Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel El-Wazir inspected on Wednesday the factories of El Nasr Automotive Company in Helwan, the Ministry said in a statement. El-Wazir visited the upgraded passenger car plant, featuring new assembly and painting lines, furnaces, and rust-protection facilities. He also visited the bus plant, now producing the 12-metre Nasr Sky and 8-metre Nasr Star buses with 63 per cent local components, with eco-friendly electric and natural gas models in development. El-Wazir underlined that reviving closed or struggling factories is a key pillar of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's seven-point emergency plan to restore Egypt's industrial base, create jobs, and reduce reliance on imports. He said El Nasr Automotive is one of the most prominent examples of this revival, stressing that reactivating dormant factories is more effective and socially impactful than building new plants from scratch. Shimi highlighted new product lines, including environmentally friendly buses, and confirmed coordination with the Transport Ministry to supply new vehicles to public transport and tourism fleets. Gobran noted that the new Labour Law No. 14 of 2025, set to take effect in September, is designed to balance workers' rights with employers' needs, improve the labour market environment, and support investment.
