Egypt's Education Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif on Tuesday signed a letter of intent with Japan's Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Toshiko Abe to broaden cooperation in education, including support for people with disabilities and new partnerships in technical and vocational training. The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9), held in Yokohama on August 20 to 22. Abe reaffirmed Japan's support for existing partnerships with Egypt's education ministry and Japanese companies such as Yamaha, Casio and Sprints, while highlighting plans for new initiatives, particularly in technical education and special needs education. She also praised the success of the Egyptian-Japanese Schools initiative, which will be showcased by Japan's education ministry at TICAD 9 as an international model of educational cooperation.
