Egypt's Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel El-Wazir on Sunday inspected the final finishing works of stations and track installations on the first line of the country's high-speed electric rail network, the Cabinet said in a statement. El-Wazir witnessed the completion of the major engineering work on Al-Khor Bridge over Wadi Degla, extending 600 metres in length, 90 meters high, and 14 metres wide, according to the announcement. The minister said the bridge represents one of the epics of the high-speed rail project, stressing that Egyptian workers and engineers always create miracles and deliver outstanding engineering achievements. The minister also reviewed progress on several other projects, like the South Helwan Bridge, East Nile Bridge, and final works at Cairo, Mohamed Naguib, and Capital stations, emphasising the need for quality standards and efficient use of station spaces for administrative and investment purposes. The Ministry of Transport reported progress on bridge and track construction, with 4 out of 16 rail bridges and 16 out of 55 road bridges completed. The Siemens-Orascom-Arab Contractors consortium has received 388 out of 660 kilometres of track sections for installation work. The Ministry of Transport noted that four of 16 rail flyovers and 16 of 55 road flyovers have been completed so far. About 388 kilometres of track sections have been handed over to the Siemens-Orascom- Arab Contractors consortium for basalt laying, rail installation, and electrical works, out of a total 660 kilometres.
