Egypt's Agricultural Engineering Research Institute (AEnRI) on Sunday signed a cooperation protocol with Misr Hi-Tech International Seeds to support the local manufacturing of maize detasseling machines. Under the protocol, AEnRI's scientific expertise will be combined with Misr Hi-Tech's financial and marketing capacity to design, manufacture, and test maize mechanisation equipment, particularly maize detasseling machines. Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk said the protocol is part of the state's efforts to enhance food security, localise industry, and promote innovation in agricultural solutions to address current challenges. He explained that the agreement marks a significant step in strengthening partnerships among stakeholders in the agricultural sector and underlines the Ministry's commitment to creating a favourable environment for innovation and investment in seeds and modern agricultural technologies. He added that the move also highlights Egypt's determination to involve the private sector in development efforts, thereby boosting the capacity to develop agricultural technologies tailored to local conditions and aligned with sustainable development goals.
