Vietnam's President Luong Cuong praised the grandeur of Egypt's ancient civilisation during a visit to the Grand Egyptian Museum and the Giza Pyramids as part of his official trip to the country, Egypt's Ministry of Tourism said Monday. Cuong, accompanied by a high-level delegation, toured the museum's main hall, grand staircase and galleries, receiving a detailed briefing on its collection, including the complete treasures of Pharaoh Tutankhamun, set to be unveiled when the museum officially opens on Nov. 1. He lauded the museum's architectural design and archaeological riches, presenting it with a replica of Vietnam's Ngoc Lu Bronze Drum, a cultural symbol of the Southeast Asian nation. The delegation also toured the Great Pyramid of Khufu — the only surviving wonder of the ancient world — and the Great Sphinx, where officials outlined ancient construction techniques and the monuments' historical significance, before moving to the Panorama area to view other pyramids.
