Egypt's Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities said on Monday that Luxor's Valley of the Kings sustained no damage after a fire broke out at a cafeteria in the western bank area of the ancient site. "All tombs and buildings are intact and in good condition," said Abdel Ghaffar Wagdy, Director General of Luxor Antiquities, adding that the fire, caused by an electrical short circuit, was quickly contained by Civil Defence forces. No injuries or losses were reported, Wagdy said. He added that officials and security staff took precautionary measures to protect the area, and debris clearance is under way in coordination with the Luxor Governorate.
