Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly met Sunday with Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) Governor Hassan Abdalla and Petroleum Minister Karim Badawy to review fuel supply security and progress in settling payments owed to foreign oil and gas partners. Prime Minister Madbouly called for intensified efforts to meet payment schedules while attracting new investment and clearing obstacles for energy companies. He said the government is taking pre-emptive measures to ensure the petroleum needs of the electricity and industrial sectors are met. Talks also covered the banking sector's role in coordinating with ministries to secure foreign currency for petroleum imports, as well as exploration plans and updates on international operators' activities in Egypt.
