Egypt's food exports rose 6 per cent year-on-year in the first half of 2025 to a record $3.37 billion, up from $3.17 billion in the same period last year, the Food Export Council (FEC) said on Thursday. The $182 million increase marks the highest first-half export figure ever recorded by the sector, according to available data. Arab countries remained Egypt's largest food export market, purchasing $1.58 billion worth of products — 47 per cent of the total — despite a 4 per cent drop from last year. Exports to the European Union rose 2 per cent to $715 million, accounting for 21 per cent of total shipments. Non-Arab African countries imported $249 million, a 9 per cent increase and 7 per cent share of overall exports. The United States posted the strongest growth among top destinations, with imports surging 47 per cent to $230 million, representing another 7 per cent of total exports. Sales to other global markets reached $585 million, up 29 per cent, and made up the remaining 18 per cent. Attribution: Amwal Al Ghad English Subediting: Y.Yasser
